So I'm applying for universities and their deadlines are next week (Penn State and UT Austin), I'm in state for Texas, but I'm completely stressing out.

I just realized that UTA does NOT postmark their high school transcripts, while Penn state does. My school used the TREx system where it electronically sends transcripts online to instate schools.

How long does it take for a transcript being sent electronically to UTA?? And approximately how long would the processing days be? Will it arrive before Dec 1st??

I'm so frustrated that I didn't know sooner!!! Please help!

Deadlines are generally for what you must submit. Colleges are forgiving for documents from your HS and other sources which tend to trickle in. Remember, they want to find a reason to admit you.

If you hang around this site after Jan 1, I promise you there will be 500 posts of panicked students saying" OMG! Am I screwed? I missed the deadline by 2 minutes" or “I’m screwed! My guid counselor is out until Jan 5th and document X is still not submitted”.

It happens every year like clockwork.

If indeed, any required document is missing from your file, the college will call you or the school to get it in. It’s called customer service. They want you to LIKE THEM. Remember, you are potentially the source of 4 years of tuition to them. You’ll be fine.

Hahahaha! Wow thank you so much on your insight, that kind of sheds a bit of light from my acute depression at the moment. I was also freaking out because there’s a holiday coming up and I was almost convinced that every staff member in my school was going to throw their papers in the air and leave school for a week, and leave my transcript forever buried under their documents.

Like I intimated above: college admissions is a two way street. They WANT to admit you as much as you want to be admitted. If you matriculate, you’re the source of 4+ years of tuition and fees. That gives you leverage. Don’t forget that.

Will some schools reject you? Sure, it can happen. But until that decision is made, all schools will be very accommodating. Certainly, it’s not free license to flaunt administrative needs or deadlines but you get the point. Students forget this.
