My son has done well his 1st semester of 12th grade . Enough that it moves his overall GPA up. Some of the programs he applied to take the highest GPA reported by January 2018.
His HS Guidance will not do a midyear transcript update. This differs from his sibling’s school. Is it the norm to not update the transcript mid-year?
This can mean the difference of a full tuition scholarship. We explained this to the school and the reply was they don’t do it and schools across the country don’t.
I’d keep pushing it and go up the administration chain. It means money out of your pocket if you could score the scholarship. Our HS updates transcripts at the end of January to reflect GPA/Class rank changes, but you have to ask for the mid-term transcripts to be sent if necessary. Not sure why your school would deny a mid-term transcript request…many colleges request one and several require them.
^^^ Ours is similar to labegg’s except that transcripts are updated each semester for juniors as well as seniors. If requesting a transcript to be sent to a college before the 8th semester, the school notes that the transcript is “tentative” and will be final and updated after the 8th semester. But, yes, the school does do it.
Several of the colleges my daughter applied to required mid-year grade updates, so it seems strange that they would deny it. I agree with talking to an administrator.
Does you school annualize grades or do the operate on a semester trimester cycle system?
If your school operates on a semester system and your child applies RD, the school will most likely send mid-year grades when the current semester is over. Because there will be 7th semester grades. Most mid year reports are not due until mid February. In NYC and parts of NY as the semester is not over until January 30/31 because of mid year regents exams.
