High school transcript

How important is a high school transcript when you're transferring? I was an average student in high school but now I'm a pretty decent student (3.81) with a decently rigorous curriculum in computer science. I'm really hoping I don't have to retake the sat

If you are a sophomore transfer, your SAT and high school GPA are quite a bit more important than your first semester college GPA.

In my opinion (and that is all it is), this should go double for transfers from community colleges.

If you are transferring as a Junior to the college then your college work weighs more than your high school transcript. They will still look at the high school transcript however they will want to see how well you have done at your current college. Seeing your current G.P.A, you’ll be fine.

You don’t know that he will be fine city. If he is a sophomore transfer from CC with a low SAT score and bad high school record, he won’t be fine unless he is applying to non competitive places.

I’m a freshman currently at UNC Charlotte trying to go to chapel hill. I had a 3.9 weighted gpa in high school and 3.4 unweighted. Sat was 720 math, 520 reading, 340 writing. Clearly I’m a much better college student and I intend to atleast maintain 3.8 if not bring it up with a perfect gpa.

UNC Chapel Hill has a good transfer acceptance rate (42%!), so you have a chance. However, with a 1580 SAT score, you should apply with low expectations. Prepare to stay at UNC Charlotte, and hope for the best.

If you are wise, you will retake the SAT on January 26th.

I’m just wondering how long I should wait before my sat is overlookable. Honestly I suck at the sat minus the math section. I doubt I would be able to bring it up much, at most I might be able to bring it up 300 but that would be a lot of work to not even have it at chapel hill standards.

Your SAT is ok. SAT is not required of students transferring in as junior.

Also, how important is your high school work?

Also, have you look into C-STEP? See C-STEP

You’re a current fr, but are you talking about applying as a soph or jr? This is the crux of the matter and the UNC-CH Admissions website is very clear about this (different link than 4kidsdad despite the same name):

I was hoping to start halfway through my sophomore year. I was hoping a 3.8 gpa in two semesters of college as a computer science major would be good enough to look over my horrible sat. I guess I would have a shot if they completely scratched writing score out of the discussion since my math carries my two part pretty well.
