High School Transcript

Does the content of your high school transcript effect your admission to UC?

It doesn’t have an effect on your admissions, assuming you are a junior level transfer student. It will have an effect on what courses you will need to complete for your degree. Since it won’t hurt to send it I always recommend sending it. Who knows, you might save some time and money by fulfilling graduation requirements with high school courses.

we have to send in the official high school transcript, right?? do we just go to our HS and request it to be sent to the UC?

for ucla, i dont think u need it. I turned it in, and the lady was like "u should turn it in only if you did not complete the IGETC"

but for berk, yes, u need to turn it in.

bayarealivin....you can either have your transcripts sent directly from your HS or you can obtain them from your HS and send them yourself. Since I had an out of state HS I had them sent to me last year and I sent the sealed envelope to Cal two weeks ago. They are updated and everything went fine trust me, my HS transcripts were horrible so if mine didn't have an impact then your definately won't.

mojojojo69,

I'm an engineering student and I only took few GE classes at my JC( 2 English Courses, Asian American Studies, and Speech) . Should I turn my HS transcript in to UCLA?

I personally would. I turned mine in anyways, even though the lady was like "i dont know why you are turning it in".

In your case, since you took few GE's, yeah, you really should turn it in JUST IN CASE. Its always good to be safe!

as the person above me said,

luvtoolearn, does you cal hs transcript say received- final? Mine still says received- in review. Maybe it's because I only sent my college transcript a couple days ago...

i had my transcripts sent, i figure it's only $5

ch3ch2oh...
my HS transcripts on the Cal site say "final"... it took about a week or so to update...I'm more concerned about my cc transcripts, those have been in review for almost 3 weeks. I hope there isn't anything wrong. I got so nervous I looked at my old UC application reciept just to make sure I didn't leave anything off. Has your cc transcripts updated yet?

hmmm... my hs transcript still says in review, and it's been that way for a few weeks. I'm a bit worried because I'm a high school dropout and I mentioned that on my uc application. My cc transcript still hasn't been received, I guess because I sent it just a few days ago. When there's a change on myberkeleyapp I'll update on this thread.

did you ever go back to HS & finish? or get a GED just for the record?

I have a GED. Which I noted on my uc application!

I finished HS but because I changed 7 schools in one year, a whole academic year was missing from my transcripts. I explained it on my application. I didn't even know a whole year was missing until last year, I also went in and got a GED for the record. Like you I was a little worried, but when it updated as "final" I was relieved. I called to check up and they told me that transfer students do not have to worry about HS records, they only need the transcripts to see if you qual for credits to apply. Your fine...hope this helps...I'll see you at Cal!

Thank you for posting that! I feel a lot better now. No more unnecessary worrying. :-)

ok so this might answer the thread i posted just now. I don't really intend on completing the foreign language area in the igetc because i had 3 spanish classes in hs. will this affect my chances of transfer to ucla?

3 years of Spanish in high school actually satisfies the foreign language requirement for the IGETC. So you're good to go!

My transcripts were both verified today, so no more worrying about that. :-)

Is anybody else's transcripts for Cal taking forever to update??? I can't believe how long my cc transcripts are taking to update

luvtoolearn I'm on the same boat as you for the cc transcripts, it has been almost a month, my cc transcripts, 2 of them, are still in review. But my high school has been verified.
