Hey! So I requested for my high school transcripts from my school’s office the other day and, as expected, they flat-out refused (we live in a small city so didn’t expect them to know much about it). When I really insisted, the guy at the office said that I can get my Class X’s & Class XII’s mark-sheets, and Class XI’s report card scanned and printed; keep them in envelopes; and submit it to the school so that they can stamp and attest them. Now, I have a few questions:
-
Are Class 10 and 12th’s mark-sheet enough? (Class 10th’s marksheet also contains my class 9th’s final grades so he said that those 2 will be enough for the three years) If not, is there anything that I can do? We weren’t provided with any report card in class 9th and were simply told how much we scored and that our final grades will be there on the 10th grade’s marksheet.
-
Do you think that my school really doesn’t have my score-reports anymore or are they simply being lazy? (It’s a DPS, in case you’re wondering) I graduated this year so it’s my gap year. So, are schools supposed to keep records of score-reports of students who graduated or not?
-
My class XI’s report card is…very informal. They have the incharge’s, class teacher’s and the Principal’s remark column and I was wondering if sending something like that as official transcript is acceptable or not?
-
If sending these printed copies are okay, I have to give the people at the office very clear instructions on how to attest and put stamps. I know that they have to put the school’s stamp across the seal, but is that it? Is someone supposed to individually attest each year’s report-sheet? If yes, then who? The counselor or the Principal?
Thank you!
ok so
first off, most schools are required to keep 4 year student records for atleast 3 years.
depending on the university you apply, some require all 4 years, check their websites.
informal is ok most indian schools have that for 11th, its ok.
ask your school to print out a hard copy of your grade 9 results, they should have them since I am assuming all DPS schools are CBSE. They would have needed it for rounding off your 10th results
if you have the copies you can get them attested yourself or else ask for a copy to be printed out or the original to get attested.
you will also need transcripts for eithe 2 or 4 years depending on the req.'s
when sending by post, its ok if you send the documents by your address, as long as they have the school’s stamp of approval and a sigh from the principal, headmaster /VP or any big authority figure.
Try common app, It will save you a world of trouble in terms of leg work but you will need tech savy teachers for that.
also, you better hurry, deadlines have already started ending in top universities.
may I also recommend seeing an admissions agent in your city to help smoothen the process.
or contact the school you are interested in’s international admissions office for details of application regarding submitting transcripts and report cards
Thank you! Do I still need to get the transcripts stamped/attested before I ask my counselor to upload them on my common app? I know that it’s kinda late but I hear that you can upload or send transcripts a week or two past the deadline.
well,if its not original, get them attested nonetheless, never a bad idea to do so.
also, since you’re using common app, just tell your counselor to scan the original and use that, that is legal and allowed.
PS - know that common app is used by many colleges but not all, for example most UC colleges like UCLA,UCI,UCD don’t use it.
Alright, thank you so much!
Its all good, message me if you have more questions, i too recently applied to a buch of places so I may be able to help.
