My name is Haley and I am a sophomore in the IB program at my high school. I currently attend a high school in Florida that is ranked around 75th in the nation by US news and is the 12th most challenging school in the nation and I have a 4.0 GPA up until the third nine weeks. I have seven classes which include, 3 MYP classes, 3 AP classes and 1 Honors class and this semester I made a B in two AP classes. My current ranking is 66 out of 350 despite having a 4.0 GPA as my school is highly competitive. I am worried that because of my Bs, colleges like University of Miami, Florida State, and University of Florida will not even consider me. In my area there is also an up and coming high school with an IB program however it is ranked a C school at the moment (the new principal raised it from an F) and it is very close to my house. If I go to this easier high school, take a lot of high level classes and make all As, would it be better than attending my very difficult school and making a few Bs? I would like to know the pros and cons of staying vs. leaving and what you would recommend.
