High school?

I am thinking about attending a private school (Mercy High School), and am transferring as a sophmore. I currently attend a public school, but the private school seems to be a good place for me to "grow". Will transferring to private school effect my chances of getting into ivy colleges? I am stuck between transferring and staying at my public school.

Personally, I believe a public school's education is better.

And why do you want to go to an Ivy? Let me guess mhmm... name recognition? I do too, but please, look at other schools. Don't settle on name prestige...

It depends. If the public school is a good one transferring wont be worth it. You can get into college from either school, what you need to worry about is the environment at each school.

i transferred from one private school to another private school the summer before my sophomore year, and i thought it was totally worth it. the trick is that you need to be very clear about what it is that you exactly want. lack of consideration of those factors was the reason why i didn't like the school i attended my freshman year. in my case, i wanted to be with all my best friends and the school had a more prominent name in the community, but i didn't really consider carefully the quality of their science programs or the support/funding the administration was willing to give to certain extracurriculars i wanted to do - even though that was what i really cared about most. as a result, i was stuck in a crappy school with mostly dumb rich kids for a year. if you're not careful about figuring out what you want, you may find yourself in a place you like less.

I think a good private high school is always better than any public school. But the private school need to be good.

This is what you can expect from a good private school.
- Discipline
- Environment
- Academics
- Extrac Curricular Activities
- Like minded Student Group

If you want I can provide you with more pros of a good private school education.

When it comes to admissions to top schools, it matter most on you and your effort and how did you make use of the resources the school provided.

Since a good private school provide you much more resources so if you use these properly then your chance to get into top schools do increases.
