Right now, my family and I are considering Deerfield Beach High School for its IB program, Stoneman DOuglas, and Nova. Does anyone have any suggestions on which high school I should pick?

what are you looking for?

DO IB. When you're a senior, you will realize that it is the best thing that you can possibly do for yourself. EvAr.

I mean, we get kids coming back telling us how Harvard isn't much harder than high school, and some classes are easier.

DO IB.

I am actually stongly considering the IB program at Deerfield Beach and I am looking for the number of kids that go to Ivy league colleges.

I am considering these schools, but I am open for suggestions.

If that's why you're considering it, then don't do it. Its not in the spirit of IB. Its intallectual excitement first, prestige and colleges second.

Is it true that Harvard gives 30 semester hours for IB?

Yeah, if you get all 7's on your HL's. Which is pretty hard to do.

Yeah, if you get all 7's on your HL's. Which is pretty hard to do. Seriously, if the main reason you want IB is because its your vehicle to college and some credits:
1. That makes me sad
2. You probably wont enjoy IB
3. But that's just me

During the hurricane (I lost power for two weeks) my family said that we were also considering Pinecrest. Does anyone know anything about that school? I know that it is an elite private school that sends many kids to ivies each year. Right now, Deerfield Beach is the most appealing school out of the four.

I usually don't have much to say on these boards, but because I'm from South Florida (just graduated from a public high school in the area) I have to say there is no comparison between Pine Crest and the rest of the schools on your list. Douglas and Nova are both good schools- Nova is massively competitive to get into- and I'm sure Deerfield IB is decent too. But if you have almost $20,000 a year to spend on Pine Crest, there's no question. At some point you have to realize that the resources of Broward public schools can't touch those of Pine Crest. If you decide you want to go to a public school, though, Nova and Deerfield (for IB) are good options.
