Keep up the good fight, Luigi59. You’ve got the issue nailed. Racial and ethnic discrimination are execrable and morally bankrupt practices REGARDLESS of how they are implemented. And pleading “That’s just the way it is” isn’t a defense–it’s an outrage. SHAME on the Navy.

I know something about the law too, Bill0510. Your sarcastic responses to Luigi59 show little thought and a whole lot of parroting of PC-gobbledy-gook resting on blithe, untested assumptions that have plagued this issue since Justice Powell first articulated his gut conclusion that “increasing racial diversity in classrooms serves a compelling state interest.” The studies that have tested the underlying assumptions show little evidence that the mere color of a person’s skin or the ethnicity of his or her ancestors enriches the educational experience for others of a different color or ethnicity.

Martin Luther King’s dream has been replaced with a PC-nightmare.

hang in there kc. You’re fresh and the night is young. If you’re as sharp and insightful as you self-portray, you’ll figure it out. trust me if you can take a leap of faith … Bill ain’t the enemy. And like my dear old dad, God rest his soul, like his USNA namesake, Bill’ll grow on you like a friendly boil AND become a whole lot smarter the longer you live here. Honest injun!

Luigi has some great insights too. But his axe always seems to need sharpening. He seems to love whacking down cherry trees that bear no fruit. None need to be cheerleaders. Nor chronic angry cherry-tree whackers.
