I know this thread hasnt been active in awhile but just for those looking at the thread in future years some info. Have no idea how it worked out for the OP but i can say rank is not everything. For some HS in the country the top 30 percent of students might be MORE comp/ equal to the top 10 percent in another less competitive HS. Colleges/universities are aware of the type of HS you come from. Not sure if the OP is from one of these ridiculously competitive HS where the top 25 percent are all very qualified to go to top schools. My son comes from such a competitive top ranked Public school. Our HS doesnt rank the kids because of this but students are certainly compared against one another coming from the same HS with similar Gpa scales. Although he had a 4.0 UNWEIGHTED gpa HIS WEIGHTED gpa put him in the top 25percent of his graduating class. Despite this he got into many top schools WITHOUT hooks including Pomona, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Wash Un. and still waiting on others. Class rank is not everything as High schools across the country vary in how comp. they are and colleges know this. He did have above 2300 though.
I do agree that the OP probably over rated his chances at top schools if he thought 2270 was golden. Unfortunately those scores are now " a dime a dozen" and without a HOOK (URM, recrutiable athlete, etc) probably not getting into the top ivies.
