Hello, I am currently a sophomore and almost done with my year.
I’ve been taking Student Government since Freshman year, and I had planned to continue taking it for junior and senior year, but I was wondering, is it worth it to put that much time and effort just to put on my college app that I did student gov for 4 years? It probably looks good, but how much will it actually help me get into my top colleges?
Also, if I do join student gov again next year as a junior, I wouldn’t have a class position(long story) as in my job would be to just be in a committee, not like the treasurer or secretary… So, I have recently considered quitting starting next year and just taking another AP class which would help my GPA.
My current GPA is 4.4, and Junior year, it would be 4.8 if I get straight A’s without Student gov. And that is because Student gov is not an honors class so it would be bringing my GPA down. If I did take another AP class instead, it would probably be AP Environmental Science.
I am already volunteering at two places every week(library+hospital) and I’m also on the tennis and cheer team. I’m taking 4 or 5 AP classes next year; would it be worth it to take student gov again next year?
