"Highest" SAT score?

My Columbia form says to list the highest SAT score and the date it was taken. I only took SAT I once (Nov5) and I am not AT ALL happy with the results.

I plan to take it again in Jan. (Their SAT score reports are due Feb 15. I hope it'll make it there in time.)

But I'm getting off-track. Since I'm not happy with my low scores, and I'm scheduled to take the test again, should I put my November scores there as the "highest scores" anyway, or leave it blank? I'm pretty sure I'll get much better scores in January.

Hey, I'm in the same boat.
All my scores are in the range except the CR section, so I wanted to leave it blank and put that I'll be taking it in January.
However, I think you're supposed to fill in your grades AS OF NOW, and I already do have a highest score (from October). So I put it down anyway.

I did put in the Additional comments that I'm taking the January SAT.

Good luck.

I had the same problem on another app. I didn't put it and I just made a note that I would be taking it later in the year.

Columbia states the following:

**You should be aware that scores on tests taken after December may not reach the Admissions Office in time for consideration.* You must register with the appropriate testing agency (either the Educational Testing Service-ETS or the American College Testing Program-ACT) well in advance of the date on which you wish to be tested. You should be aware that scores on tests taken after December may not reach the Admissions Office in time for consideration.

You must be sure to request that your scores be reported directly to Columbia every time you take a standardized test. The appropriate ETS codes are 2116 for Columbia College and 2111 for SEAS; the ACT codes are 2717 for Columbia College and 2719 for SEAS.

Please note that scores reported to Columbia’s School of General Studies (2095) will not reach our office and will not be considered for evaluation. Columbia reserves the right not to evaluate a candidate whose scores are not reported directly by the testing agency.

Please do not utilize the “rush” service in sending your test scores to Columbia. Doing so does not speed up the processing of your test scores. We obtain all testing via a secure Web site to which we are provided access by the appropriate testing agency. Scores which are sent via the “rush” service are sent to us in paper form, which we are no longer able to process.

In a nutshell, January scores probably will not help you at Columbia as they would not get there in time.

Just a suggestion....take the Jan test. If you score extremely well, print off your online report and fax it to Columbia with a cover note that official scores are coming. The worst that would happen is that they would ignore your fax. On the plus side, they MAY take the new scores into consideration.

Hmm. Could I e-mail it? I'm international, and I don't think long-distance fax works well. The weird thing is, I can't find an undergraduate admissions e-mail address on the site. I've looked everywhere since I have some questions, but I still can't find it. Does anybody know what it is?
