Highest score increase you have heard of

So, what is the highest score increase you have ever heard of in a person (I guess the best way to measure is by the first practice test they took and their final SAT score).

Also, I think that an increase from 2000 to, say, 2150 is more noteworthy that an increase from 1600 to 1800, even though the latter technically gained more points, since the higher you go, the harder it gets to get more.

The most I've heard was a person who started out with a 1820 and went up to 2200.

There are a lot of variables you need to take into account:

There are… so it isn’t just a linear model.

I guess I just judge by general opinion. I mean, increasing from 1800 to 1900 is typical, but someone who has increased from 1900s to 2300s merits alot of wow.

Some girl in my grade, june SAT, 1720, october SAT 1960.

There were 2 girls in the grade who’ve done the SAT like 4 times, they went up gradually from 1900 to 2300. ( I think one of them was 1910 2080 2230 then 2310, and the other was 1940 2120 2250 2310) That’s ■■■■■■■■ though cause the amount per sitting didn’t increase as much as the girl who only sat for it twice and raised by 240 points.

My son went from 1740 to a 2000. We were thrilled, his goal was 1900, so he far surpassed his personal goal.

@ctmomof3: My October score was 1750 and my goal for December SAT is a 1900. I might break a 2000 by some luck, right? lol

You mean someone like I? :)

I’d assume this is without superscoring?

My friend got a 1200 the first time. yes out of 2400. then i tutored him and he got a 1620 the second time! (like 4 months later) still not good but soo much better

my dad’s friend’s son improved his score from 1040 to 1400 out of 1600. I think it’s just because dad’s friend’s son did not take his first SAT seriously.

My friend went from 1760 to 2110…with no prep!!

my friend went from 1670 to 2320 using only hooked on phonics

^ O_O Are you serious?!

^ probably not.

One of my friends went from 1390 to 1880. Three or four tries though.

A friend of mine went from 1560 to 2360, spaced about 6 months apart.

u sure that wasnt 1560/1600 then 2360/2400?

From the experience with my S. it does’t matter if you have the best, most expensive tutor in the world…if you are determined to do better, you can but you MUST study, devote x amount of hours to studying and prepping. My son studied for about 2 solid hours a night for about two months over the summer to insure his score went up and it did quite a bit.

610 —> 2390

darn! my friend’s goal was 2400 …

JUST KIDDING! are you surprised? :D

Hahaha I didn’t think so… Because no offense, but 610 is pretty bad. That’s like getting 1 question right.

I’m not sure what you’re thinking, but just going by points tells you nothing. If one person increased from 600 to 900, but another increased from 2100 to 2300, who deserves more praise? 900 is still a bad score.

1700s to 1900s is a piece of cake compared to 1900s to 2300s. The girl with the 1960, while 1960 is a above average score, is nothing special.

My friend went up about 400 points…

2000 -----------------------------------> 2390.
