"Highlighting" on thin paper (SAT tests, prep books)

Do you guys "highlight" or underline any information on SAT tests and/or prep books? I find that pencil tends to camouflage itself. What method do you use to mark down important information? Also, highlighters soak through the thin piece of paper and I can see it from the other side of the page =[

I never make notes in books. But, if I had to, I'd use a dry-ink pen. I hate how the paper in prep books is ugly and thin...

For thin pages, a regular Crayola type marker works better than a highlighter, not as powerful.

I don't really like highlighting because I think the vivid colors get very distracting after awhile.

However, I do have the tendency to "box" important points on SAT tests. Since underlining, as you pointed out, tends to blend into the text itself - if you put a box around or circle main points in the long CR passages, it works fine and you don't have to switch between two writing instruments during actual testing (are highlighters allowed?).

I've heard of people using crayons as well, or wax pencils - they don't seep over to the other side. But yeah, color really distracts me so I guess there's a different method for everyone.

I just circle. Highlighters suck, crayons look retarded, etc...Circling gets the job done.

I might underline.

Most of the time, I just read the book and write notes.

I never mark in my SAT books. First of all, if a few months later I want to re-take a portion of a test, I want it to be totally fresh. Also, I don't want to decrease the resale value. However, if you want to highlight, I would buy some Bible highlighters. They are designed for highlighting on ultra-thin pages.
