Im a caucasian female and I am going to be a senior next year
i just got my SAT score .....1590..... which was NOT at all expected I really cant believe I did that bad
my gpa= 3.68 unweighted
REALLY terrible I know...........

My family has tragically gone way toooo much this past year... its unbelievable.. it has been really hard on all of us and I am in a new school. Everything has just truly affected my academic preformance as much as I have tried to move past it all.

I took 3 APs: Psyc, US his, & Eng
Honors: Math, Chem, & Spanish

Next yr im taking: AP gov, AP Stat, AP Eng, AP bio, Economics H, & Span H

I am unsure of my major... but im leaning toward business

I am invovled in many afterschool activities suchs as: newspaper, yearbook, diversity club, & the midnight run club
I work in an afterschool program
I have been invovled in many community service projects for over 3 years now
I play the violin
I also run track... but im not that great at it

what schools would best fit me?? (if any at all!!!) :(

it will be highly unlikely that you will get atleast 1900 sat the next time you take it. Just go to community college...no offense but ur screwed!

^ people like you epitomize what's wrong with cc. to the op, if you can write a compelling essay that describes your unfortunate situation then you might have a shot

Consider taking the ACT instead. A lot of people do better on it, and you don't have to report a bad score.
If your standardized tests don't come out the way you want in the end, consider SAT-optional schools.

um wait is this saying that people with 1590 sat scores can't go to anything but community college? totallly wrong. there are lots of colleges that will take you.

Agreed! I personally thought the ACT was so much easier. A bad SAT score is not everything. I had a 1600 SAT score that I got up to 1930, until I took the ACT and did a lot better on that. If you can, take some SAT classes or buy some good books. It's just a test, but it's important to know the strategy in approaching it.

After you get a reasonably good score you can move on to the more interesting things, like the essay or what not.

Got 170 on my PSATs sophomore year (equiv. to 1700 on SAT I), studied a lot that summer, on real SATs, high 2100s. There is room for improvement. Just study the HELL out of the SATs this summer, which just began. Good luck in October.

Oh btw, that high 2100s score, after much practice (again...), transformed itself into a low 2300s score. Got me into one of HYPMS. All is not lost.

Wow what is with all these bad posts (some okay but most crap)?!

Anderj, find out what colleges you are interested in realistically maybe your state college and see what you need. Definitely prep for next SATs and take them, my score went up by 110 points (not including the superscore) by just prepping a bit more. As others have said, take ACT as well since I did A LOT better on ACTs than SATs.

BTW, what state do you live in? Since staying in-state colleges will have lesser requirements usually.

Wow, you guys are horrible. Anderj17 -- there are sooooo many schools that you can go to with a 1590!! Maybe you can give us more information on the kinds of things you're looking for in a school like where you are from, where (geographically) you would like to go, urban/rural, etc. and then we can help you out!

I would like to thank everyone who replied with encouraging words... I really feel terrible still about the 1590.. Im still surprised as well

(I live in NY and would prefer an urban setting)

Just to let you guys know on PSATs i got a 2200 and all of practice tests I have taken I have NEVER gotten below a 1980
And on my ACTs I got a 29......

There are some sample questions on there, as well as other general info. The ACT preparation forum on here is also good for info. So check it out!

LOL, whoops. Didn't see that post. A 29 is an awesome score (CC'ers won't call it "awesome, but it's the top 5-6% in nation).

My friend did well on her practices, and she got a 1700-something the first time. She took it the second time and got a 2000+. It was probably just a fluke.

Or just drop SAT altogether. That 29 can be increased if you're devoted in your studies.
