Highschool drinking

Drinking is good for you. One or two is good for the body, more is good for the soul.

I think about every teen has had a drink before 21. If you get a sip of wine, try a beer every now and then-that’s fine.

Now going out and getting sloppy drunk is a problem.

I just don’t like the taste very much.

Not a big deal. The drinking ages are arbitrary anyway, why should it be a big deal when people don’t necessarily comply with them?

background: I drink on a regular basis at home with my family. I have had drinks with friends/am open to it, but as it’s a serious suspension risk while i’m at school [boarding school], I don’t drink on campus [friends houses are another story entirely].

well once i saw the title i immediately thought “stupidity”, seriously, it stinks, messes up your senses, and your breath is horrendous as hell, theres no point in drinkin period, dont do it.

I personally think that its alright so long as you dont wasted cuz if you do, you’re just setting urself up for trouble that way.

I like what tofugirl said, there’s nothing wrong with a taste of low proof alcohol, but when it gets to the actual drinking, then it’s a problem. It’s the people who drink now who dive into raw sewage, shove toy cars up their butts, and drive off a cliff at over 100 miles per hour with a 1.8% blood alcohol level. Forgive me for insulting Ryan Dunn fans, he just sets an example for what you shouldn’t do in life

being a casual drinker is fine; haivng drinks at a birthday, for a celebration, dinner out with co-workers, etc. The problem is that THERE ARE NO CASUAL DRINKERS UNDER THE AGE OF 25. Lets just be honest. At our age, they drink to get drunk because they think its cool. They drink as a sign of rebellion (since its illegal), they drink beause they cant handle their problems head on.

Nevertheless, what they do is none of my business. If they hit my car, throw up on my couch, try to start a fight, etc then there will be a problem. But other than that, they are free to waste away their time (and possibly life) with no intereference from me.

Drugs and alcohol are evil…

Who gives a damn? Let 'em drown in alcohol. If something criminal happens, hold them responsible and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

I think there are. It’s just most of them aren’t americans. The places where kids that are under 25 have a more healthy relationship with alcohol are the places where alcohol isn’t as forbidden. Countries with backgrounds that involved prohibition (ie america) consume less alcohol but have more alcoholics than countries that never had prohibition. If kids are exposed to alcohol and understand it they are less likely to be binge drinkers.

It has become somewhat of a culture in the teen world. Although sometimes it creates issues, it also allows for people to bond and spend time with each other.

I’m not for it or against it, but it’s simply a fact of life these days.

At every Ivy League school, and also Stanford/MIT, alcohol is everywhere. It’s more common than the buzzkills/anxiety-afflicted kids on CC think.

IDGAF.

That’s my opinion. If they want to tempt fate, they can go ahead.

I don’t have a problem with anyone drinking as long as they are doing so in moderation. I feel that if you can die for your country at 18, then you should be able to legally consume alcohol.

There doesn’t seem to be many benefits to drinking besides as a crude painkiller for do-it-at-home surgeries, with all the weight gain, bad breath, etc. involved. Likewise, I don’t see anything morally wrong with drinking moderately, responsibly, and with your hands to yourself.

I am strongly against teen drinking and substance abuse. I have never in my life had a drink and I never plan on drinking. Alcoholism is common in my family, so I have a reason to stay away from liquor. I can’t even imagine being in a situation where I have no control of my own body.

it makes me sick/disgusted to hear about teenage drunk escapades… The people that usually tell of their drinking habits are usually the ones that need to stay as far away from alcohol as possible

^what they said. lol

I’m not gonna waste my time persecuting and denouncing underage drinkers. It’s their body, it’s their life, they can do what they want.

I won’t drink until I’m 21. I’ll be responsible and have a designated driver and down only a few. The ultimate goal is to never lose control of myself.

the problem with teenage drinking is more severe in the US than other places. My Spanish teacher would tell us about different major celebrations they would have in ( I forgot the country, it was probably Spain but not sure), and she said 70% of the people who got drunk out of their minds and spend the night in jail were American tourists/visitors. Americans dont consume that much alcohol, but the one’s that do tend to drink in excess
