Highschool GPA for Stanford??

I was wondering how Stanford recalculates a highschool student's GPA? Is it weighted or unweighted? Is it all classes or just academic classes? Is it just 10th and 11th grade year? What GPA is ideal for a student that is considering applying?

There are many topics about this already. Look them up.

first, you're more likely to get a response from the main forum, and its always best to search first. However, it is your first post, and we are all allowed mistakes.

That being said, Stanford does recalculate highschool GPA to include only 10th and 11th. It is unweighted, and if I remember correctly, the take the base level of the grade (they lop off +'s and -'s) so that's good for A-'s but bad for B+'s.

Don't worry, they glance at 9th and look at 12th as well. Remember, GPA is just a number, and they receive the whole transcript. If you are receiving A's in the top classes for classes you love, and a B+ or 2 slip in, you should be fine.

Good luck!
