<<< [Hilarious] PHOBIAS!!!...>>>

Yeah, so I remember I had to memorize a list of phobias for a vocab test, and some were weird but some were outright hilarious.

Like seriously they just made me laugh and easily committed to memory.

Here's quite a bit that I still remember (and looked up for spelling, AND in addition found some more interesting ones), some hilarious, some amusing, feel free to add more or comment.

I honestly had NO idea, not even the slightest idea that some of these words even existed.

Telephonophobia- Fear of telephones.
Allodoxaphobia- Fear of opinions.
Caligynephobia- Fear of beautiful women.
Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.
Pogonophobia- Fear of beards.
Atelophobia- Fear of imperfection.
Basiphobia- Inability to stand. Fear of walking or falling.
Kathisophobia- Fear of sitting down.
Amathophobia- Fear of dust.
Chrematophobia- Fear of money./B
Chronophobia- Fear of time.
Papyrophobia- Fear of paper.
Cibophobia- Fear of food. (<--- blasphemy)
Consecotaleophobia- Fear of chopsticks.
Genophobia- Fear of sex. (LMAO)
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia- Fear of the number 666.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words. (Ironic?)
Ithyphallophobia- Fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect **
*.
Papaphobia- Fear of the Pope. (Lmao)
Clinophobia- Fear of going to bed.
Philophobia- Fear of falling in love.
Phronemophobia- Fear of thinking.

Discuss.

phobia only exists when you want it to. there is no such thing as fear.

Atelophobia sounds like CC... =]

Atelophobia- Fear of imperfection.

That's mine baby.

^Or perhaps genophobia does. (just kidding!)

My personal favorite is panophobia: the fear of everything.

Well, aren't you clever...

EDIT: Chrematophobia still gets my vote. Fear of money? Well, that was the strongest impression I had when I first saw the list, now I'm not so sure cuz there's so many good ones.

Ithyphallophobia- Fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect *****

HAHAHAAHAH, but what if you're a guy??

my odd phobia: escallators...also known as escalatoria

I fell down this really long one at the metro (subway) when I was 5 because the escallator suddenly stopped when I was prancing around (yeah- we got a fair amount of money from the incident... it's amazing what a few broken bones and a cute face will do for a jury).

Anyway, still afraid of them. I can now go down the short ones, but still.

Hey JY...I had that fear too....my Mom put up with it for a long time. Had to find the elevator every time we went shopping. Lasted until I went to the mall with a friend and her mom. The mom had no clue about my fear and basically shoved me onto the escalator....ta da....I'm cured! But I hated the friends mom for it!

Where's the "fear of stupid people" option?

Retardophobia. ;)

seriously though I have yet to find a word for that, maybe you should invent one yourself.

I have emetophobia, which is the fear of vomit/vomiting...

hahaha! this is a hilarious thread!

Phobephobia - the fear of fear itself. The only true phobia according to FDR.

I remember reading a long time ago that there is actually a fear of ugly people! I about died when I read it. Perhaps, it was the use of the word ugly, instead of unattractive. Anyways, it is called "Unatractiphobia."

If a chicken were money, would a chicken be evil?

^^^ If a chicken were money, it wouldn't be a chicken...it would be money.

Ophthalmophobia- Fear of opening one’s eyes

Only thing worse than that is probably Closaphobia, the fear of closing one's eyes. =(

And LOL: Octophobia is the fear of the number 8!

^You can create lots of phobias by tacking together Greek roots. I would assume that "nonophobia" is probably fear of the number nine. The classic triskaidekaphobia is fear of the humber 13.
