Did not see a thread for Hillsdale regular decisions for class of 2026 so decided to start one. Visited campus in August and they said applications were up over the year before at that time. Not sure if that was sustained and has affected admission rates for this year vs last year’s.
Yep, applications are up. When I had my interview, my AO said it likely had to do with Hillsdale wanting to stay open and have everything in person.
When did you have your interview? Our visit was in early August which was fairly early in the application cycle.
Mine was late September I think if I remember correctly. Around there, maybe early October
My son just got his acceptance letter and we are so excited for him! We have heard applications are way up and the acceptance rate way down this year. Best of luck to everyone! Hillsdale is a very special place!
Was it a 6 week wait for a decision? I had heard that was typical in the past, but a bit longer last year and maybe this year?
My daughter heard back from Hillsdale just over 6 weeks from when she applied and she was excited to find out she was accepted. It looks like it will be a bit more money to go to Hillsdale vs some of the other schools from which she has gotten decisions, however, it is the most competitive school she has heard back from so far. From what I have been able to find so far the educational opportunity looks quite impressive from Hillsdale, but I am not sure how much that is worth vs some lesser competitive liberal arts schools which have a lower net cost. This may be a challenging decision, but I am excited that she has some good options.
Accepted, 100 CLT (1460 SAT equivalent), 3.95 GPA, not great EC’s but all were centered around my passions, polysci and Econ (future law). I think the main factors, besides the average (for Hillsdale) statistics on paper, were the “demonstrated academic interest beyond the utilitarian level” I showed in my interview and essays, and the fact that I came from what could be considered a feeder school to Hillsdale: private, very small, implementing a classical curriculum, with a religious overtone.
It appears that Hillsdale has put out their preliminary admission expectations with acceptance rates looking to still be around 23%. https://hillsdalecollegian.com/tag/class-of-2026/
Looks like last year’s low acceptance rate may have persisted another year.
