I'm interested in taking Elementary Hindi next fall but I'm afraid the class is going to be full of native speakers. I know learning any language will require a lot of work, but I don't think it would be worth it or practical for me if I really struggle in it. Has anyone here who's not a native speaker taken introductory Hindi before?

Many of the language classes at Cornell, especially the 1101, 1210, etc, courses are designed for people with no background in the language at all. The instructors usually try to make sure that people who already know the language are placed into upper level classes.

ok, that’s what I’m hoping for. It’s just that a couple of my friends told me a lot of their intro Chinese classmates spoke at least a little bit (I think some of them couldn’t read or write though). Maybe I will self study a little before over the summer.

I took Chinese 1101 this semester…a few people already knew some basic Mandarin, but almost everyone was a total beginner and within a few weeks we were all at the same level.

I wouldn’t worry about getting stuck with native speakers. The professor will make it clear that your class is for beginners, and the TAs will catch on at discussions if some students are too advanced for your class.
