Hip hop is no-talent commercial garbage.

wow. you're a joke.

are you talking about hiphop in general, dance, music, or what? your definition of talent is different from another person's definition of talent. i could say classical rock is straight up garbage too because that's what it sounds like to me, but i won't 'cause your music taste is YOUR OWN PERSONAL THING. dissing on other genres & claiming yours is 'better' than the other is retarded. really now.

but yeah, i used to go to either millenium, boogiezone classes, or practice with tm juniorss. haven't been able to do any dancing whatsoever 'cause of AP exams though. haha lamee.

Hip hop is no-talent commercial garbage. I suggest you look into classic rock music. These artists have more talent than 50 cent , tupac, and all those other rap "musicians" combined. Classic rock is being listened to 30, 40 years on. Can you imagine anyone listening to p diddy or fiddy 10 years from now. Here are some classic albums you should start with.

Led Zeppelin IV

Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd

Back in Black by AC/DC

Revolver by the Beatles

Exile on Main Street by the Rolling Stones

You obviously have a very different taste than most people in this thread. I myself am not a big fan of mainstream rap, but I can appreciate it sometimes, and I do keep a good chunk of hyphy in my ipod. Musical taste varies from person to person, and you truly cannot make such a broad sweeping generalization about a genre of music, especially one as varied as hip hop.

it's funny how people associate hip-hop with what they hear on the radio today..let me tell you, what you're hearing is NOT hip-hop, search for some oldschool music and see how much the sound has been distorted.

adorkable i feel your pain, i haven't been able to practice for months due to school.

I currently live in the bay area where I bboy and dance hip hop as a passion with gentwo and the Company. If I were to go to UCLA (which is highly likely if I don't get into HYPSM :P ,) I'd dance with either Samahang Modern or NSU Modern... or both. Or maybe just an LA group like BREED. Anyway, heins, best of luck with your auditions!
I think this thread is so funny because I never expected my passion and collegeconfidential to ever collide.

haha. Hey, do any of you know what ASURA is?
I guess it's some club at UC Davis, but I don't know what kind of club it is.

BTW, if you (OP) are interested in doing commercial hip-hop dancing then I'd check out Samahang. They are synchronized in their practices, which shows that they are talented and put in lots of time and effort into their performances. I like that. Hopefully, Samahang does not have a million people on stage in their performances. flamesuiton I hate it when there are are million people on stage and the performers are not synchronized. I do not mean to be a sourpuss, but whenever I see that the performance just looks tacky and disorganized flamesuitoff

well, i dont know what you guys are talkin about. but i can do that walk it out, jigga juice, its going down, and of course lean wit it, just to name a few

i got dat jigga juice, i got dat jigga juice
it got me jiggalatin', it got me gettin' loose

hypergreenbean --- aaah gentwo forreal?? isn't that the group with shaun evaristo? he's got some sick choreo.. and ive seen a couple of your performances i think and you guys are goooood.

i'm probably gonna end up auditioning for samahang or nsu.. don't think i'm good enough to make it to a non-school group like breed but maybe with time hahaha.

nikkei -- totally agree with you on the synchronization. some group can have sick choreo but if it's not clean, it looks really bad. simple choreo can look ill if it's CLEAN and formations are on point. yesyesyes.

i'm more into the commercialized hip hop - i look a lot less awkward than i do when i attempt to bboy haha.

maaan this thread's got me all excited for the year to start hahaha

Quest is dope. Ryan is awesome and Lydia is my girlfriend. Haha, no I'm kidding. But she's my age and is my good friend. ;D

heins --- Yep, Shaun Evaristo is our director. Though he recently moved to LA to make it big. I'm glad you like our performances. :D

When you audition, make sure you exude confidence and enthusiasm. I'm sure you'll be fine. Oh, and don't short change yourself. You should still audition for those big named groups for the experience (the choreo is usually fun anyway) and you never know if you'll make it. You might want to check out www.boogiezone.com , a dance forum, you can find me as "greenbean".

Oh, and for those of you who are lost about what the hell we are talking about, or you just need some advice, you can watch this documentary on hip hop dance

ooooooooooooooooiiii. BODY ROCK. congrats on 3rd place!!!! (from what I heard gentwo is the same as the camp??) sick set. the ending was on point! daaamn.

i missed going to body rock in person cause prom was the same night but i youtubed it and it was pretty ill. competition was fierce though!
