Hip Hop

so what sort of music to you americans listen to the most???

here in england its very much about the hip hop!

personally i like the more old school hip hop like Biggie, 2pac, nas, big L, wu tang, NWA etc etc! but i just wanted to know if i'll get laughed at if im seen banging out these kinda tunes on a friday night?

Dizzee Rascal!

it depends, top. hip hop is very popular, and the music you listen to will definitely not turn any heads here.
among high schoolers, the most popular types of music are pop, hip hop, and indie/emo.
don't worry about looking weird. kids here listen to all sorts of music and if you don't listen to mainstream stuff people won't think you're weird. unless you dress strangely...

YOU LIKE DIZZEE RASCAL!!!!!!!!!!

REALLY!!!!!!

is he big in america then!? he is heavy

dress strangely!!! nah im a snappy dresser dont you worry mate haha

haha well you may not dress strangely or listen to strange music but the way you talk is amusing :)

nah, he's not big here...but like I said..I'm big into your ****. Wiley, Kano..you know. But Old School hip-hop is def good...at least you know who big L is...if you say you like ditc to some americans they have no idea what your talking about. May I add a Tribe Called Quest, Naughty By Nature, and Public Enemy to your list...just to name a few

the D.I.T.C album cost me 40 pound! obviously coz the album was discontinued...but its pretty good - big l rips it up tho!

i never knew wiley and kano were known in america either...are they very underground then?

"personally i like the more old school hip hop like Biggie, 2pac, nas, big L, wu tang, NWA etc etc! but i just wanted to know if i'll get laughed at if im seen banging out these kinda tunes on a friday night?"

you're pretty much on point with the good music....its not exactly party music though...

i like wu tang too, lloyd banks, Common, and kanye west are good too

Dizzam...thats hella lot, haha...luckily a friend had the vinyl and I got it for free.

They're not really underground...I've found people who really know their music, know who Wiley, Kano, Dizzee, etc are. Mostly people into the local stuff. It also depends what part of the states your in..I know alot of people in DC know them

common is good but i dont like lloyd banks (although he is the best lyricist in G - unit) kanye is alright, but he is a better producer e.g talib kweli - quality...

not party music!!!!!! cmon! im sure i could get a party started playing life after death and the chronic hahah

do you sing along too? I REALLY want to hear a 2pac song sung with an English accent :) lol....no, don't worry, you'll fit right it.

You could get a party started with Eric B & Rakim...maybe even krs-one

well its good they are well known! british hip hop is, in my opinion, alot fresher than most new U.S hip hop e.g "i got cash money, mad ice and a bentley"...boooooooooring!

hahahaha course i rap along!

but dont worry, as i said in another post, we dont all speak posh and like the queen just because in every hollywood film theres always an englishmen wearing a top hat and drinkin tea hahaha

we speak gangster, and spit hot fire hahaha

that new rapper you guys have...lady something...always rocking the Adidas...is she any good? never listened to her music, but she seems like a white Missy Elliot :)

oh god!!!! lady sovereign!!!!!!! she is an embarressment!!!!!
some of her lyrics are funny but basically if you were heard listening to her and you were over 16 you would probably be beaten up...

this guy is good: http://www.myspace.com/officialklashnekoff
