Hippies

I got accepted to University of Maine, Plymouth State (in NH), and I am waiting to here from University of New Hampshire. I want to go to a school with less preppy jocks, and more laid back hippie types like myself. The less strict the school is with stuff like skateboarding, drugs, and alcohol the better. What would you recommend? I’m pretty sure all these school are near a mountain for snowboarding/skiing, but is there one that is better than the rest? Thanks for the help.

Dude. It isn't the sixties anymore, the time of the hippies is gone.

Dude. He can go to a school with whatever type of students he wants to.

Sorry, I don't particularly know any schools, but i'd imagine the drugs and whatnot are more prevalent at certain LAC's. Probably California/Washington schools too.

Isn't Sonoma State hippie-ish?

College of the Atlantic. Most hippy place this side of woodstock

New College FL is so hippie it doesn't even have grades.

SUNY New Paltz is very laid back, hippie town, liberal and artsy. University of Colarado, The Evergreen State College, and University of Oregon are all worth checking out.

of the three, i'd say u new hampshire

I go to Oberlin, which is very much known for its liberal, 'hippie' reputation. I'm just saying, the day of the hippies is gone.

He never asked for new school ideas, he wants to know which of the three to attend.

dude UNH for sure tht stuff is huge around here

thanks for the responses. I was leaning toward UNH from the start, so i hope i get in.

Btw hippies will never die.

Isn't Sonoma State hippie-ish?

I happen to live in this area, and it's very liberal. Rohnert Park is more on the moderate side, but you can't live so close to Humboldt County and not have some hippie in you. From what I see at my high school, pot and alcohol are not hard to come by and the gay community is accepted.

If you have good grades than apply for CU-Boulder. It's about 30 minutes away from the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I worked there this summer painting dorm rooms and my boss did coke and offered it to us on the job all the time. If you're down for that environment and peer pressure, go for it, but that's not what college is about for most people.

Where's Humboldt State On Ur List?!!?!?

Northland college for sure is a hippy college.

arudouspallor re post#14. Two things Yes, Sonoma State did have a hippy rep back in the 70s and 80s but that has faded considerably. Secondly, Sonoma is not "so close to Humboldt County." Rohnert Park is over 5 hours south of Arcata and quite a bit further right as well.

Rohnert Park is more like 3 1/2 hours from Humboldt, not 5. I know; I drive it every summer. But yes Humboldt is hippy, and Sonoma is preppy liberal.

Reed College in Oregon is the ultimate hippy school.
