Hispanic Ivy Dartmouth

Hello everyone. I'm just curious to know what other people think about my chances. It's harmless, I know. Well, I transferred in my junior year to a dual enrollment program at a local college. It offers 3 high school classes in the afternoon and 3 colleges courses in the morning. That's why my AP list is a bit short.

My lab classes for Chemistry were from 5-9 at night every Thursday. Should I include that anywhere, or is that really not that important? Thanks you guys. I'm just asking because the bus ride at night was a pain in the ass.

Shooting for:
Dartmouth
Cornell
Brown
Stanford
Columbia

....not too sure about HYP. I think they just might be out of my league. I'm not a first generation college student, though. When my father arrived from Cuba, he spent a few years in high school and his teachers enrolled him in a local community college and Ft. Lauderdale Art Institute. How does that reflect upon my chances? Also, my brother went to Florida International University and graduated with a degree in Political Science. My parents are both immigrants, though. And, if I were to apply to Dartmouth or any of the other schools, should I consider Early Decision to increase my chances of acceptance? Thanks you guys.

A 3.52 GPA looks low for all of those schools.

Considering your concurrent college enrollment, great SAT scores and ethnicity, I think you definitely have a solid shot at Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, and Columbia.

Stanford is a reach for almost everyone, but you're in the running there as well.

Best of luck! :D

I would also include the communte you endured to get to your Chemistry class. Don't make a huge deal about it, but maybe mentioning it in one of your essays would be a good idea.

It would show colleges the commitment that you have for furthering your education. (and just so you know, being low income does matter! It will help you.)

I think colleges would be willing to overlook your GPA, which is a little low, considering that you are taking so many tough college courses at the same time.

I'm almost positive you'll be in at all.

your EC are so random...

politics, science, debate, medicine..................

Good shot.

your app. would look amazing

but I have to point out

"German" and most of your other EC's and awards are random, and do you know if they could count towards collge? I recieved numerous awards OUTSIDE the country like that...and i'm indian, I can speak my native language...[I know German isn't yours] but still, does that stuff mean very much?

We all get little awards [NO ONE take offense to this, but does anything under state level awards acutally count?]

so I'm not sure about your EC's [apart from 800+ hrs. very impressive btw]

I will be very surprised if you do not get into AT LEAST a few of your top choices.

Your SAT's won't do you any favors. And your URM status won't hold much weight since you're from S. Florida and nearly everyone is URM, so you're in the same pool with them. All the schools you listed are reaches.

The acceptance process is awkward. Last year, my friend was accepted to Harvard with only a 1390 and he is a Hispanic. Also, that same year, my friend with a 1400 was too accepted to Princeton. However, one year, a friend of mine was accepted to Harvard with a 1280 but he was a football player. I hope my SAT score and URM status leans my way. If not, my state has a few good state schools.
