The Duke class of 2017 includes only 5.6% hispanic students which is a very low figure (Cornell,ND, Georgetown all around 10-12% hispanic).
Is duke not choosing hispanics or are hispanics not choosing Duke?

Notre Dame and Georgetown have strong Catholic affiliations and a strong contingent of Hispanics are Catholic as well so natually these two schools are more “on the radar” for high-achieving Hispanic students. Hispanics tend to integrate really well with the general Duke undergradute population and there are a couple of really popular student groups that you can join that celebrate Hispanic culture: Mi Gente and Sabrosura (Latin Fusion dance group).

I don’t have a satisfying answer, but the president of the Latin@/Hispanic student affinity group, Mi Gente, is really growing the profile of the group on campus and working to change this.
