History Department at JHU

Can anyone comment on the quality of the History Department at JHU ?

Since no one else has commented, DS is a freshman who took a history course with Professor Toby Ditz. It was a small class and was very interesting. He liked her a lot. More about the history department here: <a href="http://web.jhu.edu/history%5B/url%5D">http://web.jhu.edu/history</a>
Hopefully some actual history majors can comment.

I don't think any of the current students who post on CC are history majors. I would suggest checking out the Hopkins Forums (<a href="http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums%5B/url%5D">http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums</a>) and asking your question -- as there are many more current JHU students posting on those threads daily and many of them have taken History courses or are friends of students who are History majors.

I'd also suggest trying to plan a visit and meeting with professors/staff from the History Department.

What I do know is that next to the Writing Seminars and History of Art majors, the History Department is considered one of the strongest Humanities departments at JHU. And yes the Humanities do exist at JHU.
