History/Math major in job market?

Hi,
I'm thinking about majoring either in econ or industrial engineering. But really, I'm still hesitant to decide if this is what I really want to study.

I'm looking to pursue a career path in either management consulting or investment banking, and I enjoy econ - I thought about double majoring in Econ/Math, but while this is a great combination I feel that it is somewhat abudant in the market.

Besides, while in college I really want to study something that will teach me to write/speak coherently along with some quantitive skills(math major), and history is something I really do enjoy.

I still don't know if I'm going in the right direction, especially given my career asipiration - because Northwestern has very pre-professional atmosphere and students are very career oriented; I feel relatively sided out.

In short, do you think there'd be any disadvantage/niche in doing history/math at NU, in terms of getting a job?

Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

no, not at all. if you are really worried about this consider majoring in MMSS - it's an honors math program and is probably the best background you can have coming from northwestern if you want to enter finance, these guys get jobs at all the top banks with what seems like minimal effort.

that being said i know several math majors who are working in finance fields for top companies, it all depends on which internships you get, and companies will be very happy to hire a math major with a good GPA.
