I'm going back to college and I'm not sure what to major in, English or History. Not only do I like both equally, but I have some health problems, so basically I'm looking for whichever will get me a B.A. with the least amount of work, especially in terms of writing and interpretating the reading. I'm thinking history will be easier because it's more concrete and easier to write about (?). Please help!

I would classify neither History nor English as concrete/easy. They both require critical interpretation and they are both reading and writing intensive. You will be required to do research, think critically, and analyze information. The BA degree will also require comprehension of a foreign language.

english, no doubt. history is textbook crazy, whereas in english, you mainly read novels.. something i find easier anyway. and you do a lot of discussion in english, so that even if you haven't been able to read everything, you can still understand the class. and in my opinion, english teachers aren't as harsh on grading. papers are usually easier too.

@ KM145

Major in what you love. You can also do a double major or minor in both subjects. You can also look at the course catalog: which area can you see yourself taking more classes in? Which area gravitates to you more?

Well, I really like both english and history....is it bad to double major? And is history divided up into sections, like american history and then world history?

Do both. English and History compliment each other. Or major in one and minor in the other. The majority of the English and History teachers at my school have degrees in both.
