History required even without History major?

This question is for every undergraduate school, but my top choice is UPenn so I figured this forum would suffice.

So are you required to take history in undergraduate college even if you are not going for a history major or a history minor? I am asking because I have not taken an AP history course in high school (I am currently going to be a senior next year) and my schedule will not allow me to. (I have taken AP economics though).

Also, somewhat related, are you required to take a foreign language even if you are not a foreign language major or minor? I am fairly sure you do for this one, but just to do be sure.

Thank you!

For the vast majority of colleges, there is a general requirement that everyone must take. Thus, while a course in the history department may not be required, you still might have to take a course related to history.

At Penn, AP courses do not fulfill any sector requirements. Thus, even if you have the necessary credit to skip a course, it still won’t count as fulfilling your general requirements.

A foreign language is required for everyone except those in the school of Engineering.
