How strong is History major at Cornell?
That's what I applied for because I like history but I'm not sure how strong it is? If any current Cornell student majoring in history can help me with this, that'd be great
thanks!

I am a sophomore history major and the department seems very strong. If you are interested in European history I will be able to tell you more (my knowledge of other fields is limited).

My writing seminar prof was a history professor, and from my limited experience it seemed like she was extremely knowledegable.

I'm a freshman history major. I loved the courses I took this past semester, the profs are very nice and many of them are highly regarded in their fields.

HOw is the workload for history major?

I seemed to have had an easier time than my roommate, who's a premed, despite the fact I was taking more courses than him and he was taking a writing workshop (instead of a seminar. It's a pass/fail course that some foreign students take). But then again, I might just have been lucky.

I'm a history and CAPS major (China/Asia Pacific Studies Major). I rarely respond to posts, but I must this time. As a history major, grading is very subjective. Some people might have an easier time w/ history, but some may have difficulty with it. I have some difficulty with it, in the sense that I have to be effective in communicating my ideas. Remember, no majors at Cornell are easy. I really hate people who say liberal arts majors are easier than science majors. I've taken some horrible history courses like Evolution (don't take it), where I often banged my head on the wall because I couldn't figure out ways to go about writing my papers. How much time you spend on History courses vary based on courses and difficulty...
