@eyeshield23: what are the conditions? do they want your leaving school results?
@bluelovexD: aw, too bad  why Swire though? I was considering Starr…
@Anth456: I’m sorry but the admissions letter says that for some reason we’re not to disclose the scholarship details or it can be taken away from us.

My answers:

 1. India
 2. Bachelor of Journalism, partial scholarship

1) India.

2) Masters in Economics, did not receive the letter by post yet* but got an email confirmation.

3) Not sure if I will accept or not.

you guys should create a facebook instead its awkward chatting on cc…

Well, we could but most of us don’t even know if we’re attending so what’s the point…

Zhuangzi, I see you’re a current student, could you please tell us something about the residential halls and campus life? Are there many internationals at HKU and are the Chinese open towards international friendships? Any advice would be appreciated!

^Start to know each other before you guys come into uni. thats what we did last year…

What do you want to know about residential halls? there’s plenty to discuss. I suggest pick one with more intls like Starr hall so that it’ll be easier to make friends with people of the same background. Currently there are 3 new halls being constructed and apparently one of them will only accept non-local residents, so you can check that out. Hall application if i remember begins in May, and results come out in June.

Campus is 20% international. With next year having around 16000 undergrad students due to the extra 4000 undergrads for the 4 year program, you’re looking around 3000-4000 non-locals in total, with half of them being from the mainland.

Although personally im from the mainland and my this is only my opinion, people tend to stick together based upon the language they speak. If you cant speak chinese or cantonese, there wont be that many locals taking the initiative talking with you and such. Seeing you’re from India, unless if you manage to learn cantonese within a 3 month period i doubt there’ll be too much interaction for you with locals… Most locals feel uncomfortable speaking in English…

Anyhow. good luck

US

Yes and Yes!

probably starr hall

India

Haven’t received any news from them yet

I don’t know anything about halls. I will check it out if they are giving me an offer. But, would just like to know which hall has more indian/korean/any non-local students.

Also, I heard that medicine applicants usually get their replies late, is it true? Cuz, I’m starting to get a little impatient over here.

Singapore

NOt yet, waiting for reply from CUHK

No clue for this…

*I’ve gotten a conditional offer and they they requires me to keep up 40 in IB at my finals otherwise I’ll lose mine…so I am struggling in deciding since it may be pretty risky

Indonesia

Conditional offer of A A B for my A-levels, taking undergraduate of finance and econs

Undecided. Starr Hall looks interesting

If for example I get an A B B instead of A A B, does that mean that all my application is rejected just like that?

Someone made this group on facebook. Accepted students/anxious applicants, join us here! [Log In | Facebook](HKU Applicants 2012 | Facebook)

1.Indonesia
2. Yes and yes
3. either St. John or Starr Hall

are there may international students in St. John ?

1) India

2) Accepted and satisfied my conditional offer for Engineering ; and yeah paid the deposit!

3) I think Starr Hall! Isn’t Starr hall supposed to be the one with the most international students??

Join the facebook group guys!
Yeah, Starr’s supposed to have the max internationals. No clue about St Johns though, but it is apparently quite difficult to get in because of the single room feature.
