I’m still waiting for my 1st choice faculty to get me off this tiresome waiting list, and it seems like they’ve recently started doing so… so I’m not quite sure if engineering is what I’m going to be doing until I get a firm ‘rejected’ showing on my status screen.

@ sdg1 & rubichino & michelleger: I just got my hall confirmation via email a few days ago, you guys should also be getting one soon. For your information, I got offer from my 1st choice hall; think they’re quite generous with hall offers to overseas students. Any news about my student visa is yet to come, however…

rubichino- this is round one for 09-10, its on the left side of the home page.[Accommodation
but if 2mm says we will get an email notification, i guess we will know then…maybe round 1 doesnt apply to any of us.

and 2mm maybe you want to join our facebook group? if you want to and have an fb account…Welcome to Facebook | Facebook](http://cedars.hku.hk/Cedars/subaccommodation.aspx?submenu=HallsofResidence&&cmd=hallsofResidence\ResultofHallAdmission&lkind=1)

rubichino, the night life in hk is pretty good… (although the clubs and bars are pretty small since hk is relatively tiny. there are also quiiite a few scantily dressed underage kids around…) alcohol may be slightly expensive, maybe around $50-$80 per drink but it really depends on where you go. obviously there IS 7eleven, where you will be able to get alcohol for… i dunno, $15? hahah. oh, and there are loads of open bar parties, so if you pay around $200 give or take $50, you’ll have access to an unlimited amount of drinks all night. too bad your not a girl, since wednesday is ladies night in wanchai, and thursday for lankwai (which is in central, where you will be. it’s literally 5 minutes away from hku… grr, jealous, ust is more than an hour away and after the trains/buses stop… i’ll either have to pay $200 for a cab or crash at someone’s till they start running again and go back to campus looking like a wreck).

can u tell me wat I need to do to get in to HKU as an international local student( I hold HK passport) and have studied mandarin as my foreign langugae. I 'm from American school. I’m now a jnior

@SDG1,Michelleger etc for hall
For accommodation,I didn’t even see my Uni # for “successfull” or “unsuccessful”…or anything at all.And I completed the application for a hall. And btw my uni number starts with “2009” and there’s none on those lists that starts with “2009”.I guess our own list is still in progress.

hi guys, has anyone been put on the waiting list by HKU? where can I check the my waiting list number? HKU seems pretty slow on this matter as I have to reply the offers from other universities, deadlines this week… :(

If you are talking about the waiting list for accommodation. Refer to the link provided by Michele above.

Has anyone received firm offer yet after meeting the condition given?
I already sent my AP socres, transcript, graduation certificate, but haven’t heard anything from the faculty yet…
Ms. Beatrix told me the faculty received my documents already…
I need visa & firm offer letter as soon as possible…

I haven’t received amended letter for entrance scholarship. I have been waiting for so long. Anyone of you faces the same condition as mine. Mind to tell?

**UST’ers!!!

What are all of you doing with the LANG001 exemption and Maths Placement Test thingies? **

I, hopefully, will be joining HKU this fall. Bachelor of Social Science.
Still working on Visa & Hall application. ~

@ Shabab

With the math placement test, I saw my application number on their website listed to be exempt from taking it and considered having passed both parts. So I replied that I go straight to 100-level Math without taking the exam.

Regarding the exemption from LANG001, I will be opting to be exempted (I hate studying languages).

By the way, they just sent me the tracking number for the package with the student visa sticker thingy. Should arrive at my place in 1 to 2 days.

I am considered having passed just Part A.

Downloaded the sample paper, Part A looks fairly easy, but Part B, most of the stuff wasn’t in my syllabus…guess I’ll have to do MATH023… :(

Can anyone tell me more about the Lang exemption,
i have been exempted from both parts of maths test…

I have been exempted from both parts of the Maths test, too. About the Lang001, it is worth 3 credits. Will there be any effects after the exemption?

wait, if you’re doing BBA you don’t have to take any more math courses if you passed Part A or both Part A & B right? I’m taking the placement test and hoping to pass Part A so I can get the free elective…and about Lang 001, it says that the course is for preparatory year students…D: hmm I’m confused.

Does HKU also have a placement test? I personally wish we had one, just so I can get an idea of where I am standing academically…

I’ll be stayin in Simon K.Y. Lee Hall!
Has anyone got a place there?

How did you find out? They’ve only released round 1 of the placements, haven’t they?
