@Sarthak: Haha. Well, the guy seemed pretty cool. He sorta had a cute accent. The lady’s tone was rather formal but she asked easier questions than the guy. =P

@Anand: Yeah, let’s just all of us go to Tonga and Tuvalu. We can open our own university there and study anything we like! =D

Hi guys! I’m sort of new to this thread. I just applied to HKU… you guys make me so nervous. Is it really bad that I submitted my application right before the deadline?

System Failure: I havent replied to your mail yet cause its super LOng! but i will in the afternoon pakka se :)

x.wondergirl: Till anything is postmarked by the deadline it’s all GooD ! Yes it is always better to apply by the Early decision deadline if the University has one, but its okay to apply by the normal deadline too… Good Luck with it!

Sarthak19118: Thanks. Did HKU offer early decision? If yes, I wasn’t aware of it… Anyway, I noticed that your location said Shanghai. Do you go to school in Shanghai too? 'Cause I do. :)

x.wondergirl: Not sure cause I didn’t apply to HKU, but I can find out if you want…
And yes I go to school in Shanghai… what school do you go to ?!

x.wondergirl: Yeah you are right, its kind of late but still you have an equally good chance of making it to the Uni
I go to Dulwich (pudong)…
I just moved to Sh 2 yrs ago, you from Hk ?!

Sarthak19118: Yeap, I’m from Hong Kong, but I moved to Shanghai when I was seven.

Dulwich goes by the IB curriculum, right? HK likes that, I think. I have IB at my school too, but I’m an APer… heh, I’m just not sure how much HK approves of that.

x.wondergirl: Ok. Thats cool…
Yeah we have IB in Dulwich? I think APs are okay for HK too, although it does love IB like nothing else, but doesnt mean it hates the others :)

hey guys
Just got an email saying that i have been offered admission to hkust for my first choice chemical engineering (fall 2010)
i need to deposit 10000hkd before 19 feb to confirm my place…
I might deposit the money anyway but still not sure about going there
haven’t been offered any kind of aid…a bit disappointed with that
any advice would be greatly appreciated…:D

LordXXX: Sometime in March or April the University will send you forms and brochures in your mail for you to apply for housing, you can;t do anything before that besides researching the housing facilities! I asked them to let me apply early for housing, but they refused…

Anand: Thats great news mate!! Congrats! I think you should come to HKUST! Its def better than NUS, and if you dont agree with me, then you have to agree that Hong Kong is def better than Singapore !! And besides you will meet awesome people like me in HKUST!! haha (just kidding)
But seriously thats good news, go celebrate!

Thanks Guys,
its good to have an offer in the bag but they give you only 15 days or so to reply…
i think that’s pretty stupid
A lot of research to do now.(maybe i am the stupid one for not researching earlier):D

and Sarthak ,since you are going to visit UST could you PM me your email ID or facebook or whatever it is you use…I have many questions for you!!

Okay, thanks Sarthak! And when will you be visting HKUST?

@Anand: Congrats on your offer! I am also waiting for a reply from NUS…but they are only giving out offers around May-June. Thats a long time! (But they do give out early offers to really great students) So I am accepting the HKUST offer anyway. Because I am really not sure if I can get NUS lol

And about aid…did you apply for the swire scholarship thing? They usually give those out later in March…

LordXXX and Anand: I’m not going to visit the Uni this month, my parents are, but just email me your Q’s, i’ll ask them to ask those for you… I’ll be visiting in April…
