"Transfer Student Admission

For the first time in our college's history, Harvey Mudd College will not accept applications for transfer standing. We regret this decision but believe it is necessary to maintain the small classes and intimate residential community for which HMC is known.

This only affects students hoping to enter HMC in fall 2010. We plan to re-open transfer admission for candidates who will enter HMC in fall 2011.

Please note that we do not allow mid-year transfers, nor do we offer a visiting student program. All new students, freshmen and transfers alike, arrive in the fall and go through an Orientation to HMC in late August.

We recommend that students considering transferring to HMC in fall 2011 and beyond pursue a rigorous courseload of math, science, and technology, as well as coursework in humanities and social sciences. More information about applying as a transfer student will be posted in fall 2010."

I still plan on visiting the campus and submitting my app.

that sux…it’s a good school

Yeah … it’s unfortunate, but I can see why they are doing it. The yearly student yield for incoming freshman classes has grown substantially over the past few years so that if they were to maintain it being a small school with as much personalized attention as it currently has, there really isn’t much of another option.

Sucks though … many very strong students came in as Mudd transfers.
