hmm...*breaks into whiny mode* WHY ME, WHY ME, WHHHYYY MMMEEEE???!!!!!

OK. Yes. I got accepted into Exeter. Lovely black folder and all. WHY?! I have nothing to freaking reccommend me, and i actually get in? I HAD ONLY THREE EC'S!!! Uh, let's see..tennis, flute, and hmm...ACTUALLY ONLY TWO!!! So it's pretty effing obvious that the school picks me because I'm from tx, a STUPID STATE. (not really, but go along here..)

Why am I acting like a stupid brat? Because that's exactly what I am. Not a brat, actually, just stupid. Should I go to a school which I'm already 99% sure i'm not going to even be in the top 10%? I mess up at Exeter, I can't even go back to my home town.

Oy vey.....

It will be fine, so stop whining. It is important to note that being in the top half (heck, top three-quarters) at Exeter will probably get your further matriculation-wise than being top quarter at most public schools.

maybe you're really good at the flute lol. or something.

you have two choices: you can be the best out of the worst, or the worst out of the best; which one would you pick?

and seriously, why the f!@# are you whining? you are ACCEPTED, for god's sake. get over it.

You probably had an AWESOME personality!

oh wow.nillyboggles very kind of you, but uh no. don't think that's how exeter rolls. I've played the flute for half a year. No trophies so that's not it either. Probably not even going to go actually...

good tennis player? or you're good at math...? they like people like that

hhaaaa.. tennis, i love but..NO TROPHIES OR AWARDS TO SHOW OFF. SSAT score was good but even my class grades suck. And if I fail at boarding school and try to go back to my high school area, the C's and B's I will definitely get at Exeter, will bar me from even getting in the top 20% of my average high school

you won't get C's and B's... if you try hard xD. have confidence in yourself you can do it.

Maybe they needed a self-loathing whiner to round out the incoming class. jk, but seriously, get over yourself.

I have a image problem i know..counselor and i are trying to work on that.

You have more problems than just image. Grow up or go home.

So, in your posts from a few days ago, you seemed very excited to be accepted to Exeter. Why the crisis of confidence? And frankly, you should be happy that you get a chance to take advantage of a wonderful opportunity. Are you just looking for some attention?

My interviewer was/is also my librarian, so I had lots of time to hyperventilate to her about whether or not my...everything was good enough before March 10th. The main thing these schools look for is not A+ students who are absolutely perfect and have perfect lives, but kids who show that they have character and aren't fake. Don't worry about it, you got it, the admission officers know what they were doing when they accepted you. You could of wrote really nice essays that showed insight into your personality, or your interview showed that you could communicate. I know that all of us would like to talk to the admissions people and know what made them pick us, but that's probably not going to happen, so just cool your jets and be happy that someone knows that you deserve a spot at their school even if you only have 2 EC.

haha 'AWESOME' personality nillyboggles

yep i can see that. =)

I'm going with the stupid state theory.

And what makes you think you are going to "fail" at Exeter? I think it's like what they say about Harvard or fill-in-the-blank big name school--'you can't get in and you can't get out' i,.e. it's very hard to flunk out--they've made a commitment to you and they want to keep you. If you want to get out, you're going to have to do something outrageous, for which I'm sure other posters on this board will have better suggestions than I!!

off topic, but I can't get beyond "you could have wrote"...

Cheer up! you have the opportunity of a lifetime--make a list of goals that include making friends and enjoy the ride.
