Throughout HS, I've never been resolute on what I wanted to major in. Right now, as a senior, I intend on double-majoring in Political Science and Economics. However, my mom is making a HUGE fuss over this, claiming that I should pursue a career in Medicine, since I'll make money more easily. She also claims that in the field I'm pursuing, it will be hard to make "good money". I find the Sciences to be somewhat interesting, so I'm really at an impasse.

Would I be able to make a decent living with the aforementioned double majors 10, 20, or even 30 years from? Like I said, I'm not really firmly set, so I'm trying to take into consideration the practical scheme of things. If I pursue a bachelor's in Pol Sci and Econ, how hard would it be to get a job with these degrees respectively? I'm trying to take all of this into account. How much would it usually pay around?

It depends. After this, do you plan on grad school? For stuff like political science or economics, I would recommend grad school or professional (law or business, in this case) school.

I recommend taking some poli sci and economics classes before you decide. And I think you should not write in stone what you are going to do because many people change their major in college.

If she thinks medicine is "easy money", she is DEAD WRONG. It is, without a doubt, the stupidest and most difficult way to go about making money.

Either way, go ahead and major in whatever you would like; figure out what you want to do after taking the relevant classes. Take advantage of a career center or department of career services or whatever you have available at college.

Actually, at most colleges you CAN major in polisci or econ and still go to med school. you can major in ANYthing and still go there, just make sure u make the requirements.

That way, if you discover a passion for medicine/biology you could take that route, and if not you can go to law school.

Either way, most colleges don't make you declare 'till junior year.....
