Hmm, ok...I'm in a little bit of trouble.

My eyes were just opened to the possibility of a 7 year medical program by my pops, who somehow forgot to tell me about these things even existing.

And now I have all of 1 week to get my school to send recs and such to such programs, if I find them. My stats are:

Asian Indian
Academics:
SAT: 1530, 770 english 760 math
ACT: 33, 36 in reading

Rank: top 10%
Classes: 8 APs after I grad, expecting 4's and 5's in all

Clubs:
Quiz Bowl (captain 2 years), sectional, regional champs
Forensics
Science Club founding member
National merit semifinalist at the moment
NHS

Out of school:
Boy scouts, going to be getting eagle
Community service award, very small number given

Work:
1 year target employee, 1 year as an english tutor at a private school

Will be getting excellent recs from 2 department heads.

So does anyone know of the actual application procedures for schools like this? The only one I've found so far is Brown's, and I don't think I have what it takes to be accepted there.

Hey,
Your stats sound good. Usually those type of medical programs want to see a really big interest in medicine that you've already worked on developing. So if you did your eagle project relative to medicine or hospitals or if you've had any interning experience that would be excellant to add. I know Rice University has an excellant med program where you apply there undergrad and then you're automatically accepted to I think Baylor Med. School. You might want to check it out. Good luck!

Well, I looked around, and here are my biggest problems:

Rice's deadline has apssed, george washington's deadline has passed, I don't think taht I'm good enough for Brown.

Don't know about Rice, but GW has 2 deadlines, and you only missed the 1st (supplement or Part 1). The main app is due Jan 15, since BS/MD can only apply regular, not ED. If you call, they might wave the Part 1 deadline (which you could send in tomorrow, since it's not time-consuming), then you have until Jan 15thto get in the main app. Check out the info under Apply, then go to Special Programs.

I think I mentioned this before, but for someone with your record I think unless you are going to Brown, Rice, Case Western, Northwestern, or Vanderbilt I think you should go to a traditional 4 yr program. I had a friend at Brown in the PLME who realized he didnt want to do Brown med and transferred to Stanford as a junior and majored in anthropology. He is now at Harvard med. I guess my point is that through the traditional route you will have more fun, learn more, have a great college experience at a top school and in the end will end up at a better med school.

I really like all of these ideas, thanks everyone! hayden, I'll be calling tomorrow to see if it can work out.

If you've got any more info, I'd love to have it.
