hmm..the draft?

I don't think people who choose not to serve are selfish or cowards because they want an education or don't want to die, that attitude has got to go. There shouldn't be a draft mainly because I feel it would taint the military and our camaraderie more than help it. And there are a lot of fields to go in anyways, everyone's always hooked on the "you'll go straight to the frontlines and be killed". Besides thoses guys were selected and have the right stuff for their mission, not every has what it takes. Blah I'm talking to a brick wall.

2) The British fought to keep their empire intact. Our civil war was fought to keep the Union intact. The British were wrong and the Norh was right? Seems rather hypocritical to me.

I never said British were wrong and North was right. I happen to think both were wrong. At least I'm consistent.

And I agree with the whole meddling thing. The US has a huge history of meddling. And again I agree we aren't the world police, although I don't think the UN is so great.

I have a personal problem with draft dodgers, so I would never support someone running away to Canada.

I'm just gonna say that you have no right to have "a personal problem with draft dodgers" because you are a female and all and wouldn't have to worry bout it.

Yes but I've had multiple family members drafted and either died or completely changed their life/life plan rather than run away. I think that gives me the right, considering it has affected my life.

War is NEVER, EVER, EVER the answer to anything. War is a COMPLETE, UTTER waste of time, money, and human lives. War is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. War is evil. War is hateful. War gets you NOWHERE. War is mass murder, mass vandalism (what do you call bombing someone's house? VANDALISM), and misuse of MY money. I paid the government money to feed the hungry, keep our schools intact, provide aid to University students who got into Harvard but can't go because they're too poor, NOT to murder innocent Iraqi civilians, mass-vandalize a country (or two) OR to make the rest of the world hate us so that I'm afraid of going to SFO and getting on a UA flight. (where do you think the $ for the Iraq War is coming from? From ALL THE SALES TAX-8% in CA- I PAY WHEN I BUY STUFF!!!!)

To all you radcons out there: War is more of a murder than abortion is. War is MASS murder, vandalism, and a crime against humanity. Yet I see Bush campaigning against all forms of abortion but hawking war as a smart policy. He doesn't make sense.

Indeed. Because letting Hitler go undisputed all throughout Europe would've been a great idea.

It's actually pacifists like you that really bother me.

As a point of curiosity, tell me. Do you own a gun? What would you do when an intruder breaks into your house and potentially endangers your livelihood?

That's a simple question, call officer douschebag to come and take care of it OR use a knife.

logistics lol are you still up with this?

Still up with what?

With this thread. It is so yesterday. But I suppose Ill keep arguing it. The fact of the matter is if Bush is such a bad president, then why did the US elect him TWICE? Oh, you can argue he didnt win fl in 2000 and blah blah blah blah blah but he still won in 2004, which to me was a much more important election than the 2000 one. With that said, there will never be a draft. But if for some reason there is I'll go bc I love this county to an unhealthy point

Everyone's been posting not just me, most posts last more than one day you goon with foolish points!

lol thats not point you sack of beans. I thought that maybe you would have moved on to better posts by now you bottle cap! Quit trying to get up my pen holder and go sharpen your pencil.

does anyone have a waterbottle up in herrr im thirsty!

"then why did the US elect him TWICE?"

Because many Americans aren't wise enough not to elect him. :)

Many Americans arent wise enough to realize that goldfish always die in two weeks either. And are you calling the country you live in retarded?

You see, there is a difference between dumb and retarded. There really is in case you didn't realize.

Also not true.

I think the mod's should lock this post if you all are just going to argue and call each other names.

If it makes you feel any better, I doubt that any of your sales tax is going to the war in Iraq directly; that's collected by the state, rather than national, government, and (someone correct me if I'm wrong) money flows to the states from the federal government rather than the other way around, if anything. Of course, all of the money including the tax ends up paying somebody and then it's taxed by the federal government as income... I guess the way to minimize your contribution is to buy stuff at stores that're paying their employees minimum wage.

Okay, so in general, I'm not anti-war. I think that sometimes it is necessary and is best for everyone (the US and the countries we love ha)

However, I'm strongly against the war in Iraq that's going on now. As far as I'm concerned, we are doing no good over there. If I thought we were really accomplishing something, I'd be all for going over there and helping out. I don't think that's happening though.

At the rate we're going now, we'll never leave Iraq. And if for some reason we were to leave, Iraq would completely fall to pieces again. It seems as if all we're doing is a whole bunch of hand-holding. We're spending so much money trying to do everything for them, but they're not learning to be self-sufficient.

At this point, I say leave Iraq alone and if they fall to pieces, then they fall to pieces. Maybe we'll end up with a huge mass of destructed land over in the middle east, but as far as I'm concerned, if they want to fix their country that badly, they need to learn to fix it themselves. It might even be better if they just started completely from nothing, with their nation in complete shambles....

And this is coming from someone who's got a 3-generation military pattern going and who has an Air Force dad that's been in Iraq since August....

^
They can't pull out of Iraq, although that would be best. Until the US is entirely sure Iraq is stable, the troops won't be pulled out. Otherwise, another dictator could just step in and start the whole thing all over again, which is something DC definitely doesn't want. It's too bad Iraq isn't as easy as to reorganize as Japan. :(
