Hoby WLC in MS

I know this is hard to determine, but how would being selected as the male representative from MS to the HOBY World Leadership Conference affect an application? Obviously it could only help, but I just wondered how this distinction would work in conjuunction with an underrepresented state such as MS.

If you're not familiar with HOBY, it's basically a leadership seminar in which students selected by their schools (usually one student per school, at least in MS) debate current events, etc. At the end, one boy and one girl are selected to attend the national meeting in D.C. In MS's case, there was only one seminar, so I am the only boy selected to go.

Thanks for reading all that. Any comments are appreciated.

HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth Conference) - Yep - Wyatt Earp for you old timers - is nice and I would include it on your application - but don't expect it to be great hook. Enjoy it for what it is, perhaps it can be a topic for one of your admissions essays. My guess is that HOBY appears on a large number of ivy applications since many schools send their top students. The fact that you were selected for the national meeting is nice - but a big bump? I don't think so.
