Hockey at CGA?

Can anyone tell me about ice hockey at CGA? I see they don't have a varsity team and its listed under Clubs - but there's no real info. Is it a competitive club team - meaning it plays other club team from other schools?

There is hockey at CGA that practices at Conn College. I'll get info and get back to you.

Yes they play teams from throughout the northeast. Here is a link to their web site.

<a href="http://www.coastguardhockey.com/%5B/url%5D">http://www.coastguardhockey.com/</a></p>

They work hard and are quite competitive. Good luck.

My son went on a beansprout visit in Sept. and these are things that he found out about the club hockey team. The Coach is the fire chief so he can be hard to connect with when you on campus.

They practice early in the morning before breakfast. But the good thing about it is that you are allowed to nap in the afternoon when everyone else is at their sports.

The cost is your jersey and your own equipment so for most ex-travel players the cost of ccm vectors ;) There are no club dues and no cost to travel, they generally use the vans??

The equipment is kept in a locked area in Chase.....no smell in the room a real plus (son's friend at VA Tech has a roomate that isn't happy about that smell)

An alum hockey player told him they generally have 2 strong lines and the rest are guys who are trying hard.

I know this summer a retired 0-5 called him about the hockey and the candidate visit program. He told son that hockey was really "big" because everyone goes over to CC and cheer them on.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if they recruit? Or have try-outs? I really would like to keep playing but doubt I am good enuf for D-I. Re: that smell, we use alot of febreeze.:)

I don't think they recruit per se as it is a club. However on campus I'm sure they try to find some "hockey pucks" ha ha jk. I'm sure they'd welcome you with open arms.
