Hodson Trust Scholarship

And if you look at the score ranges: (from apply.jhu.edu)
SAT is SAT CR: 670-770
SAT Math: 690-790
SAT Writing: 670-770
ACT: 31-34
I doubt a school that has numbers like that implements Tuft’s syndrome ;)

ok thanks guys, well another thing I heard was that Johns Hopkins takes 50% of its class ED, so regular decision applicants are out of luck. Also can hopkins ever be called a match?

40% of the class is ED applicants I believe (mainly because the ED accepted pool is comprised of really good fits for the university). Another thing you have to consider is that Hopkins’ typical class size is ~1275 (apply.jhu.edu) so the 400 something people accepted ED will naturally be a large percent of the class. I hardly think that leaves the RD pool out of luck, but it does make it very very competitive and standing out among 17000+ RD applicants is significantly harder than doing well among 1200 ED applicants.

I think Hopkins can be referred to as a match in terms of “does this student portray the characteristics that Hopkins is looking for” but with increasing applicant pools (and increasingly amazing applicants :P) and decreasing acceptance rates, I think it will always be one of the most competitive universities to gain entrance into.

The ED students are also athletes, which comprise about 20% of the overall class. And RD students, like myself, are not out of luck.

As to your other question, I think it would be difficult to call Hopkins a match, especially since they do look at “fit” a lot. I have seen your stats and they are about on-par with most students at Hopkins.

All I know is that I love Baltimore, and I love sports, what else makes people fit in at JHU?

And Anouchi, your numbers are probably off. More than 17000 RD applicants makes a really low admission rate, like 5 percent, I don’t think there are that many.

His numbers are right:

ED apps: 1,149
ED Admits: 494 (42.9%)
RD Apps: 17,306
RD Admits: 3,270 (18.8%)

Overall:
C/O 2014 Applicants 18,455
C/O 2014 Admitted 3,764 (20.4%)
SAT Median: 720R, 750M, 730W
Freshman Class: 1,275

Clear advantage to those who go ED.

I got confused with class size and number of admits, my bad. 20% RD acceptance is still pretty good tho.
