Hokay! Chances!

Alright. So I'm applying to college, and I'm getting really stressed out about applications. After I freaked out for 48 hours straight, my mind started wandering...

I'm applying to these great schools, but I don't think I'm that great, so either this will really cheer me up or make me really sad. We'll see.

What are my chances!

Cornell University (Agriculture/Life, or Arts/Sciences)
Dartmouth College
Johns Hopkins University
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD

I am asian, a female, and I attend a relatively competitive school in northern California.

College GPA UW: 3.92

... and a stats class at the local community college.

I've only gotten 2 B's in my PreCalculus H class, but I'll probably get 2 more B's from AP English this year.

Rank: top 10%, I think. We don't rank, so I don't really know.

Extracurriculars:
Varsity Tennis (10-12, team captain senior year)

Wind Ensemble (12)
Symphonic Band (10-11)
Concert Band (9)
Piano (11 years)
-Passed Level 10 Adv. Test with Branch Honors (basically a hardcore piano test in front of a judge with a music theory test) (9)

NHS (12)
Link Crew (10-11, Link Crew Leader)

Awards:

English Green and White Award (11) (for excellence in writing...? who would've known.)

Okay, so I know it looks like I've been really inconsistent in my activities, but I'm a good kid. I'm versatile!

Cornell University (Agriculture/Life, or Arts/Sciences): Slight Reach
Dartmouth College: Reach
Johns Hopkins University: Slight Reach
UC Berkeley: Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match

Thank you so much for your feedback! Anyone else have any opinions? Comments? Constructive criticisms? Advice?

Let me know, thanks.

I think UCSD should be considered a safety. As long as you write OK essays, you're in.

Cornell University (Agriculture/Life, or Arts/Sciences): Match, but only if you pick a math/science related major--otherwise, Slight Reach
Dartmouth College: Reach
Johns Hopkins University: Slight Reach
UC Berkeley: Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match

I agree Berkeley/UCLA are match, UCSD is safety.

Thanks everyone, for taking the time to help me out. I'm feeling much better that they're not all out of my league.

Now, I just have to finish/start my essays. Any advice on those? Especially that damned 150 word one.

Might want to look at a school like Holy Cross-Top30 LAC 1 hour from Boston. Like Dartmouth, Holy Cross offers good combination of academics and student activities. HC is easier to get into than Dartmouth.

Here comes that Holy Cross business again^

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into it.

For the longest time, I only considered UC's (for good reason). Then, at the beginning of this school year, I gave the schools back east a try, and I fell in love with the whole cold, miserable, in-the-middle-of-nowhere thing. Johns Hopkins is an exception (partly to appease my parents).

Anyway, I thoroughly appreciate everyone helping me out. The application process is just so stressful, and I just need to find one day that I can just sit down and finish this crap, and the somewhat reassuring opinions helped a bit.

cornell arts and sciences: reach
cornell agriculture: match (unles u apply to AEM)

"I fell in love with the whole cold, miserable, in-the-middle-of-nowhere thing" lol
sorry for not helping, I'm a confused senior too. At least I'm helping you bump this haha

Thanks for the feedback. Here's my dilemma.

I do want to apply to Cornell under a biology major, and I hear it's exactly the same for Arts/Sciences and Agriculture/Life, but since the Agriculture School is partially funded by the state and is smaller than Arts/Sciences, Cornell accepts more in-state students than out-of-state and I have a smaller chance of getting in. Luckily, they have the Primary/Alternate option this year, so I'm going to apply to both. I like Agriculture/Life more than Arts/Sciences, but I don't know which one to put as my primary.

And thanks, FellowCCViewer. Good luck with your college endeavors. :]
