Did any kids send Christmas cards to admissions staff? I told my girl it wasn’t necessary. That admissions offices were probably deluged with holiday greetings, few of which made an impression (or made it into kids’ files).
Was I wrong?

i wouldn’t be surprised if admissions staff receive a handful of christmas cards every year. i’m not sure it will leave a long-lasting impression, but a little act of kindness can go a long way! good luck to your daughter
The girl insisted on sending some to the schools she liked the most and the AOs she really connected with. I’m not convinced it will make any difference, but that is the kind of kid she is…
How common/uncommon is it?
Do most kids send cards? Is she the norm or the exception?
Most kids don’t send Christmas cards period, and the few that do generally don’t send them to admissions.
It won’t make a difference and most kids don’t send cards at all. If she already did, no need to worry about it, but if she hasn’t yet I wouldn’t recommend it.
Hard to believe she was the only one… I had imagined they would be awash in holiday cards and hers would get lost in the bunch.
Maybe I was wrong…
They won’t make any difference. The biggest factors include whether you need FA, are full pay, have geodiversity, legacy, are recruited athlete. Thre are just too few spots for a nice greeting card to make a huge difference. Likewise cards from admissions to candidates don’t mean much either.
