Holiday shopping 2022

I have given everyone a flannel tote bag from Vermont Flannel with great success, and part of the price goes to charity, which is nice.

This year our larger family will be honored with a donation to a charity.

Every year, one of my kidsā€™ gifts is a donation to a charity of their choice.

Well this thread is dangerous. I just bought a Bonne Maman advent calendar for us, one for my friend in LA and one for a relative in SF. I canā€™t wait! We are supposed to get it in a few days!

I received mine (but not FOR me) yesterday from Amazon. Itā€™s a pretty hefty ā€œcalendarā€!

Do you ever order from Amazon and then completely forget what you might have ordered when a package arrives at your door? Thatā€™s what happened to me - I saw the package outside and I was like, ā€œdid I order something? What did I order that is this size?!ā€

Yep it is pretty big - that packaging each year for the jam calendar is quite lovely.

Thank you for the heads up, dear CC influencers. Ordering the calendar, too. Will give it to BFF who loves to eat buttery toast with jam for breakfast and who also has TOO MUCH crap. So we are always on a hunt for a consumable gift!

The jam calendar is cheaper at World Market, but we donā€™t have such a place. Oh well, this should be a fun experience.

The empty glass jars should be perfect for making scent kits, for people who lost their sense of smell (both my nieces).

The calendars should be arriving in a few days.

Mine was $39.99 on Amazon and Iā€™m seeing it listed as $49.99 at World Market.

I ordered one from Amazon at $39.99 then returned to order another and it showed out of stock. So I ordered direct from Bonne Maman $39.99 and of course also had to pay shipping. Now I see it is available on Amazon again so not sure what was going on but Iā€™m annoyed at not getting free Prime shipping on that second one. Ugh.

Several years ago my brother in law asked me what I wanted for Christmas. He knows I am a fan of whiskey so I said perhaps something Scottish that I would enjoy spending the long winter with. He got me thisā€¦

We now have a holiday tradition that it ā€œmiraculouslyā€ shows up at a random family members doorway on Christmas Eve. Rather than elf on a shelf we play ring and run Jamie.

I finally looked up what a Bonne Maman advent calendar may be, and now I understand the enthusiasm! Unfortunately, it is selling for Yen 18,980 (about $130) on Amazon Japan, so Iā€™m afraid Iā€™ll have to pass. On the other hand, I found a whole bunch of Lego advent calendars for about $30. My 20-year old daughter still loves Lego, so I think Iā€™ll get one of those instead.

Thanks to CC influencers, the BM Advent calendar is now an Amazon advent calendar bestseller!

Shucks, if it tastes good, was thinking of buying more tasty advent calendars. Itā€™s a novelty.

Bonne Maman jams are excellent. The full size jars I buy at the grocery store do not disappoint.

Not sure if it matters to you but the calendar is all spreads and honey. No jam.

Even better.

We have gotten them for the past 2-3 years. Last year it was a theme of tea and all of the flavors were things like raspberry with bergamot. There is usually one jar of honey and the rest are a variety of flavors (including some citrus and some berry). They are all delicious and unusual things you havenā€™t tasted before.

Instagram is tempting me with the Williams-Sonoma 24 days of baking advent calendar. Would love to get one for both kidsā€™ families, but they are $70. Grandkids are 5, 2 1/2 & 2. 5 year old would appreciate, but might be wasted on the littles. Thinkingā€¦
