Out of curiosity do you have to go home on holidays like thanksgiving & christmas break? Do they kick you out of the dorm or something?

I think they close em down over spring break... not sure though....

Housing is not a problem over Spring Break or Thanksgiving, but I believe they do a check-up over Christmas, and they might kick you out for a few days. A lot of people who stay on campus over Winter break end up in random houses, I believe.

In winter break people who stay either end up in grad housing or the international house. Which is very good impetus to find someone in the area who's willing to let you stay with them. :-)

yeah that is fine..but for xmas break do we have a few days to at least pack up and leave after the finals?

No matter what you have to be out by the Saturday before xmas week. People may have finals up until the Thursday/Friday before, I forget when's the limit. Just depends on your classes.

During winter break, finals go from Monday to Friday, though most people will be done before Friday. Dorms close on Saturday, I guess. But you don't have to pack up all your stuff, you just can't be in the dorms. It's not like you're packing up to move, just getting out for those three weeks.

Hmmm. The grandparents of one of my closest friends live in Palo Alto... not that I plan to stay down there during vacation. (Besides, I´ve only met them once.) My family lives in Washington state (unless they move permanently to Ecuador) so it wouldn´t be hard to come home for breaks.

I´m actually rather homesick right now... but (as my mom reassures me) it´s good practice for when I go off to college. (I´m currently doing a gap year.)
