would holistic admissions affect me in a bad way if i'm asian? Or would this have nothing to do with my ethnicity?

I would say something, but it might be controversial.

No, they just passed some law like 10 years ago where you can't use race as a factor in determining admissions (it was in the school paper like 3 weeks ago).

i bet this holistic philosophy is a subtle way to get more minorities.

^^^

of course, i think that's one of the big reasons why it was created...

yea especially with the "protests" and all the bad LA Times publicity about the small number of minorities. Watch, the class of 2011 will have MANY more minority students...

what is the distribution of whites, asians, and other minorities at UCLA. is there a website that shows this?

ya, you can find it on college board. it's like 41% asian and 33% white. dont know the rest

ummm. this might seem silly but what do you guys mean by minority. is it like being asian or hispanic, or is it that you are only a small percent of the school population

the precent of the school population. Although asians are minorities in the whole US, they make up a lot in universities. So the minorities we are refering to is hispanic black native american etc

yes...asians are actually the majority here...
