My daughter is thinking about selecting a double in Holland Hall as her number 1 choice for housing. When we went to Picture Yourself at Pitt one of the Pathfinders we met lived in Holland an had wonderful things to say about it, including the fact that she had a walk in closet. My daughter has also heard many positive comments from parents of her friends who lived in Holland when they went to Pitt. However it seems like most freshman look at Holland negatively. Does anyone have a daughter who lived there or did anyone live there themselves and can share their experience living at Holland,

Hello,
I lived in Holland Hall but you will have to take my advice with a grain of salt since I graduated in 1989.

The rooms are a good size and there are, indeed, walk-in closets in some of them.

I liked living in Holland and (this is the mom side of me coming out) I like the idea of my daughter being in an all-female dorm.

Hello,

I was assigned a single room in Holland during the spring semester of my freshman year. I transferred in from another school, so I moved in mid-year. I was nervous about being placed in a single room. I was hoping for a roommate. But I had a great experience in Holland. The girls on my floor were so nice and considerate of each other. The doubles and triples were all very generous sizes. In fact, I was in awe of how big the triple-bed rooms were. While my single room was rather small, i’d say the Holland rooms are more spacious and in better condition than the rooms in Towers. It’s also in a great location, right in the quad, which made walking to class very easy…especially during the harsh days of winter. The rooms aren’t air-conditioned, but this is only an issue during the first couple of months. It’s cold the majority of the school year here!

Hope this helps!
