um guys is it true that ed finan aid estimates a like a few thousand less than the actual amount they will give you in spring? my friend at swarthmore said he got 16 k in the winter of his ed, and then got 20 k in the spring. is it like this at penn?

geez I hope so. I got like $500 aid or something lilke that, if you don't count Stafford loans and work-study.
And it's not like my parents are super rich so they are really POed about it.

Seems like most of the ED CC people have gotten less than impressive packages.

I got 24100 in grants from ED...

i got 0 (for cornell) and we are not rich at all, combined both parents 160K a year before all expenses, so it will be a struggle, probably gonna have to take out some sort of loans, i don't know, but i was really disappointed, parents too, what did any one else whos parents make about the same get, and faux how did you get so much?

Well I can't say you weren't warned by the college gods. They've been saying that most people who apply ED are positive they can attend that school regardless of their financial situation. RD is better for evaluating financial deals.

um, alright im gonna be a man. my dad works and my mom is a house wife. he mades like 96k a year and we are still making mortgage payments on our house,(which we will be doign for the next 18 years lol), and i have one 5 year old sibling. i guess between my house payments and the factthat only my dad works is what made them decide to give me 9k and change in grants, 2 in loans and 2 in work study. .....

To Faux, could you tell us roughly what your econ status is?(or are you just pulling our legs, or are you being recruited?)

you need to be dirt poor to get money from anywhere nowadays...we have my grandmom in a $36K per year nursing home and all I got was $5K in unsubsidized loans

Kinda like you mengcheng but both my parents work (but with teh same income as your single dad) and we pay a considerable amount of child support for my stepbrother
