My son was admited to both schools. We know that they are prestigious and excellent schools and the money issue is important too. What will be his best option at this point?

both are great schools in completely different locations. What does your son want? I know kids at both who love them. The only thing I know about BU is that it has grade deflation.

Totally different schools. Huge size difference. Major atmosphere difference.

BU in a great part of Boston. Most people consider it a “no campus” school. But many of the buildings back to the Charles River, which is kind of nice. You can walk/bike/MBTA to anything and everything.

Holy Cross sits on a hill in Worcester. Not a much-loved city and it’s not centrally located within it, so there won’t be the vibrant city life to take advantage of. Jesuit school, although you don’t have to be religiously inclined in any way to enjoy and feel comfortable there.

Those are just a couple of comments on the “atmosphere” difference.

So much depends on what type of atmosphere he wants, whether he knows his intended major and how the schools stack up on that front. If the money issue is important, we can’t suggest anything without knowing how the aid packages compare.

Congrats to him and good luck on his choice.

Don’t know about what your money situation is per school, but given the same price, as a parent, I would love to see my kids at a LAC like Holy Cross. BU is a larger school, no enclosed campus, big city, with all of the advantages and drawbacks of such a school. Larger classes, grad students teaching. Now my son likes the big city atmosphere of schools like BU, Pitt, NYU, GW, so it can really go either way.

Also HC , being a very good LAC, does focus on the arts and sciences as disciplines. You are more limited in terms of some majors but I believe you get a firmer grounding in the academic courses. That is the stronghold of LACs.

Visit if you can. Two completely different schools.
