My god.....it is starting to sink in.....four days until I depart for Annapolis. Any thoughts, comments, delacrations, last wishes?

Do well, know that we all thank you for serving. You're gonna have a blast.

Thoughts: "Holy crap, I went to a parents club get together with a firstie detailer and I graduated from high school 2 years before she did."
"Holy crap I graduated from high school 5 years ago."
"Holy crap I am going to almost hit my 10 year reunion while I am at the academy."

My dd is sitting by her computer trying to compose the 300-500 word personal statement that is required with the submission of her completed application. Your thoughts and comments enabling this task would be greatly appreciated.

Only that you're going to have to work like hell. And that 20 years from now, you'll look back on it as the best experience of your life.

Good luck!

Yes the essay was the part of the application that took the longest for me. I would just spend a lot of time on it and really reflect on the question. Try not to make it typical, make yourself stand you (in a good way!).

marine0311- Just have her really think why she wants to go to the academy. My son really decided immediately after 911. He was determined to help protect our country. He also touched on how he learned about the academy and how he visited it. He was so impressed and felt he would fit in well. He just used plain language. It must have worked because my boy is leaving in a few days....
